Peace

~for AJ, my guardian angel

Adam Jacobs, AJ, as I liked to call him, my love and guardian angel, got me a necklace with the Chinese symbol for peace a few months after we started dating in 2005.  We were neighbors during our senior year of college at Indiana University and the instant that I met him, I knew that I wanted to be his girlfriend. He thought it was funny that I loved the necklace so much because it was from a small shop in Chinatown in New York City and didn’t cost much. I loved the necklace because it was from him; the price or what it was didn’t matter to me.

I didn’t realize how important the symbol was at the time, but since he passed away in 2009 it has been the symbol that I have strived to live my life by.  Peace is what I have needed most in my life after losing Adam.  Whether I am looking down in yoga or taking my socks off at the end of the day, I am reminded of my eternal love for Adam and how I want to live each day by the small tattoo that is located on the inside of my right ankle.
